ARCHIVO BLOMBERG - The Archivo Blomberg Foundation was created in November 2000. Its objective is to preserve, organize, investigate and promote the legacy of the Swedish explorer Rolf Blomberg and of his wife, the Ecuadorian artist Araceli Gilbert. Archivo Blomberg is located in Quito, Ecuador. It holds very important material regarding the cultural legacy of third world countries: over 35, 000 negatives and slides, a large number of vintage photography, letters and travel diaries, newspaper and magazine articles, books, magazines, maps, caricatures and 36 documentary films. The material dates from the 1930's till the 1980's, and mostly covers Latin America, Africa, Europe and Asia. The collection shows places and historical moments as well as many ethic groups that today are extinct or in danger of extinction.
